Thanks Matt for your comment. I care deeply about the church and whether is speaks to reality or not - your insights were helpful. I hope one day you step all the way in.

"Is this what Jesus told you guys to do?"

What a great question, and the reality is that we would have to explain most of what we do to Jesus. There is a very funny session Henderson did about the book at a conference in Tucson last year here:

The link here was on your email. I was curious and loved your post on The Confused Church. Those were the same questions we were asking ourselves 5 years ago now. All I can say is Acts 2 is the closest we came, and it wasn't from Jesus himself, it was from Peter. Fellowship in vs. 42 is translated in the greek as community, sharing with others. What we have come to believe is that we are to live life with each other. BE there and support through thick and thin. Sometimes are harder than others and it sometimes is 2 am that we are living life with someone. But it has become well worth those 2 am calls and 1 hour phone conversations. God has done a lot in our little community, and brought people through drug addictions and abusive marriages, what a blessing to be on the other side and see the JOY, mercy and grace that God gives!!! And when we can't be there at 2 am, we will pray for that person, even before we get off the phone with them. Even our lives have been lived life with by others, and what a blessing to have friends who care enough to be there and love us through it! God is good!!!
